GH6 V-Log Test: Porsche 918 Spyder

I had an awesome opportunity recently to test the capabilities of my LUMIX GH6 and 4K120 V-Log footage with a Porsche 918 Spyder spec ad video shoot.  The GH6 is a powerhouse of camera, and I’ve really grown to enjoy shooting with it in the year that I’ve owned it.

This entire video was shot on the GH6 and the Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8 G Lens. If you want to know more about this Panasonic camera, I have a GH6 Review here! So, check this super smooth 4K 120 FPS v-log footage, and some photos from the Nikon Z6, below.

V-Log on the GH6

Panasonic’s Log video recording format is V-Log. After playing with -bit V-Log footage from the GH5, I was slightly worried. However, the 10-bit V-Log on the GH6 give a lot of room for color correction and color grading. While I still have some low-light testing to do, I’m quite happy with my V-Log footage shot on the GH6.

Porsche 918 Photoshoot

In addition to video, I captured a handful of images if this awesome Porsche too. We took it on the road, just outside of Nashville, TN, to get some “rollers” aka. rolling shots of the car with a blurred background. So, using my vehicle as the chase-car, we drove along side the Porsche as I snapped photos out the back window with a slow shutter speed — probably 1/15 to 1/20th. I’m pretty happy with they way they turned out!

Final Thoughts: GH6 V-Log Footage of the Porsche 918

I’m quite happy with the V-Log footage from the GH6. Additionally, a badass subject like the Porsche 918 Spyder, in this amazing matte yellow wrap, looked slick! Overall, the V-Log looked good at first glance. However, there was a bit of noise in the shadows as we were shooting later into Golden Hour than I would have liked.

Until next time, get out and go shoot!
