What’s the Best Photo Backpack?

A question I’m often asked it: What’s the best backpack for photographers? Every photographer will have a different answer depending on their experiences with different brands. For example, I have mainly used Lowepro camera bags and backpacks for the majority of my career. Two of my favorites being the Tahoe BP 150 and the classic BP 300 AW. However, Gura Gear has expanded my horizons with their Kiboko 2.0 16L+ camera backpack. I have no problem saying it’s the best photo backpack I’ve used to date.

Let’s take a in-depth look at this Kiboko camera backpack, and I think you’ll see pretty quickly why I enjoy it. It’s certainly a camera backpack made by photographers, for photographers. So, here’s a look at some of my favorite features of this backpack.

Kiboko 2.0 Camera Backpack Features

Let’s talk features! I can fit two full-size DSLRs or mirrorless cameras, AND multiple lenses in here easily. Moreover, it  has no problem carrying a large 70-200mm lens or my 80-400. And yes, it will fit your big DSLRs with battery grips. My chunky old Nikon D3 and Canon 5D Mark II fit just fine!

It has a padded laptop compartment in the back that fits my 15” MacBook Pro! I’m sure I’ll get asked, so I’ll clarify my 17” MacBook will NOT fit. But, all of this fits in a fairly compact backpack, that you can carry-on flights for traveling. This makes the Kiboko backpack is great for international travel.

We have tons of pocket on the front which are great for business cards, model release forms, and extra batteries or chargers. Additionally, I really love these wide zipper pulls. They allow me to put a small carabiner or lock my whole bag shut. It really helps against deter someone looking to quickly steal camera gear.

What’s Inside the Kiboko Backpack

Now let’s open the main compartment and you’ll see why I like this camera backpack so much. Now just about ever camera bag has a customizable interior. BUT, few have this dual compartment design. This gives me the ability to keep half of my gear protected when opening my bag. This is by far my favorite feature as a creator, who shoots photo and video content in all sorts of environments and weather conditions.

Additionally, this bag has a solid carrying handle. I also appreciate the padded back panel and straps… with a chest strap! This bag feels great, even fully loaded, and I know that my gear is secure.

Lastly, it does have a removable rain jacket. I want to add that the entire outer fabric is water resistant sail cloth, from racing yachts, and it’s done a great job keeping my cameras dry all by itself. This bag is $299 USD at the time I’m making this video, but think of that as an investment in protecting your gear.
